We will be closed on Ceaser Chavez Day Tuesday, March 31. A complete list of holidays for 2020 was posted in each classroom in January. A reminder that our in-service days are set for April 9th and 10th. You can also find the information on the holiday page of this website.
STAFF APPRECIATION: As promised in 2020 LPICP is excited to announce our long term teachers achieved 2 weeks or more paid vacation status (based on length of employment) this is in addition to already receiving all paid holidays, paid in-service days and paid winter vacation. Staff evaluations begin this month and when completed their annual raised will be in place. We believe that when teachers are appreciated and recognized they are more likely to continue to work at their highest level. We believe that this the main reason that over 50% of our staff have been here more then 10 years.
Please remember to check for coats at the end of the day. With the weather warming up we are getting quite the collection of coats being left. Remember to label we have many coats that look very similar.
Also please make sure your child has a bottle of sunscreen at school. We ask parents to put on in the morning and we will put on in the afternoons before we go outside.
During the month of March the children will celebrate Dr Suess' birthday, Ireland & St. Patrick's Day (when we will read AND EAT green eggs and ham.) as well as the first day of Spring. Please have your child wear something green on the 17th. We have stories to read and art projects planned based on these topics.
A few reminders: 1.} Please remember to sign your child in and out every day. (We don't want to call you to come back but will.)2.} All infant & toddlers need to bring in updated immunization records each time they receive a booster. 3} Please keep all work, home and cell phone numbers updated. This is for parents and any other contacts you have listed for us. It is really important that we be able to reach you if we need to. 4.} All children musthave a change of clothes left at school daily. (If needed we will call parents to bring in a change of clothes) 5.} No shoes without backs are allowed at school. Thank you! 6.} Please make sure to clean out cubbies every Friday of all art work and other papers.
Please make sure your child has a blanket to use at nap daily. (just one please) It should be able to be placed easily in your child's cubby. Please take home regularly to launder and bring back the next day.
Wednesday is "La Musica" for the Preschoolers. The children are introduced to a different instrument each week: so far harmonica, accordion, virbroslap, castanets, drum brushes & cowbell to name some. We also play our school instruments and listen to different types of music. A related art project usually ends the lesson.
Tuesday is Italian day! Each preschool class has an Italian lesson followed by an art project. Check out the Italian boards in each preschool classroom. A lesson review sheet goes home each week with the new words. We finished our unit on classroom vocabulary and are now starting a unit on "Il Cibo." We will be learning 2 or 3 new words per week. We count during and go over greetings at all lessons! We look at and explore a map of Italy and talk about the different cities and places.
Share day for the butterflies is Wednesday. Share for the Bumble Bees and Caterpillars is Tuesday. Remember NO weapons or any super hero or related items.Children will not be allowed to share these items. Please help your child find something interesting to share. Thank you! Remember that children may not bring in toys or other items except on share day. These items can get lost or broken or cause hurt feelings. Leave in your car. Thank you for your help in following this policy. Books or CD's are welcome any day.
We remind parents of our sick policy as stated in your parent handbook as the cold and flu season is upon us. Children may not be at school with (but not limited to) fever, vomiting, diarrhea or continuous cough. Children must be kept home for 24 full hours after being symptom free (without medication). We want parents to know what we are doing at the center to prevent the spread of illness. We diligently sterilize every classroom and it contents repeatedly through the day. We keep an air purifier on. We keep windows cracked to allow for air flow. Teachers always follow all guidelines for diaper changing and hand washing. There is a bottle of hand sanitizer for adults at the front sign in counter. Parents who are ill are asked to call us from the parking lot and we will bring your child and sign out sheets to you. We are strictly enforcing our 24 hour policy after signs of illness including any elevation in temperature.
When dropping off or picking up your child please remember to pull in from the north driveway and park so that 2 cars can fit side by side. But please allow enough space for the gate to open.) During their business hours please do not use Japanese Service Center's parking lot.
Some meal reminders; we serve breakfast until 8:15, morning snack (between 9:30-10:00), lunch at 11:30 and afternoon snack (about 3:30). As stated in the parent handbook we ask that no outside food come into the center for individuals. This includes at breakfast time. At breakfast we ask that children serve themselves one level scoop of cereal. They are welcome to seconds and thirds when done with the firsts. Snacks and lunches are prepared and set out so the children serve themselves. We encourage a "happy bite" of all foods and talk about how taste buds change. Snacks for your child's class group are welcome especially to celebrate their birthdays. We remind you that we have a nut free school. Thank you for understanding and following these policies.
The center closes at 6:00 pm. There is $1.00 per minute charge per child for late pickups. (12:30 for 1/2 day students or on days the center closes @12:30) This fee is due at that time and is paid directly to the teacher.
